Rhumba end-of-year party set for Hotel Comster in Mtwapa

For Rhumba fans at the Coast, a special festive season Rhumba show is set to be held on Tuesday (Christmas Day eve) at the Hotel Comster on Malindi Road (behind Mtwapa Mall) in Kilifi County.
The pre-Christmas show will feature performances by the Nairobi-based Bilenge Musica Du Congolesa by Darzee Kalend, Ambro la Musica led by Ambro Djeni, Dragon and Golden Band. There will also be live rhumba mixes by DJ Numz and DJ Kyra.
According to the Hotel Comster management, revellers during the show will have the opportunity to enjoy the live rhumba shows. They will also sample African foods and drinks at special prices.

The idea was to have rhumba bands from the Coast, and one from Nairobi to blend the entertainment during the festive season. Also expected will be MC PDG Nico (House of Rhumba). The event is also supported by Rhumba Explosion with Mzee wa Kiti of Baraka FM. Entrance for the show is Sh1,000 (regular), Sh2,000 (VIP) and Sh20,000 (Corporate tables).
The show is set to start at 7pm.
Meanwhile, the Bilenge Musica Du Congo band will perform next Saturday at The Garden Bondo in Bondo, Siaya County. The group is based at the New Dream Village Bar in Nairobi South B (Wednesdays to Fridays). As for Ambro la Musica, they perform at various spots in Mombasa.
Elsewhere, popular Rhumba musician Ricky Mulolo and his Idologia International Band perform every Wednesday at the Toscana Restaurant and Lounge (near Pirate Beach) on the Mombasa –Malindi Highway. The shows start at 6pm.
Meanwhile, Lingala music fans are mourning the recent passing away of former Wenge BCBG drummer Seguin Maniata. For many years, he excelled as a drummer with the Wenge BCBG band under the leadership of Congolese crooner JB Mpiana.
In Nairobi, Afro-fusion star Suzanna Owiyo will perform today (Saturday) during the Solfest show at the Uhuru Gardens. Entrance is Sh3,500 (Fan show ) and Sh20,000 (VIP show). The show starts at 4pm.
At the Ngong Racecourse lined up today is the Mzee wa Pwani After Party. The horse races start at 12pm, while the after-party will start at 5pm.

In Kisumu, Benga musician Linet Aluoch Pamba, backed by her Karapul Jazz Band, is due to perform tonight during a pre-Christmas Benga show at the Dunga Lakeside Resort from 6pm. Entry is two beers. There are also plenty of African dishes available.
Meanwhile, on January 1, Linet and her band will perform during a New Year's Day dance at the Gono Konyuka Resort in Homa Bay. Entry is free.
Elsewhere the Village Market Rooftop will today host Mackinlay’s Christmas in Brass – A magical Festive Concert. It will feature enchanting symphonic Christmas melodies.
