All set for Rhumba Fiesta show in Mombasa
As a prelude to the festive season, rhumba fans in Mombasa are set for a major extravaganza to be held tonight at the Wild Waters in Nyali.
According to the organisers, the show will feature performances by the Amitie Musica Band led by Crispen Tambwe, the Nairobi-based Rhumba Japan, Julio and Big Band, Dragon and Golden Band, Sheriff the Entertainer and DJ Simbi. The show will also double up as an opportunity for fans of the legendary Congolese Tabu Ley Rocherau to mark the 11th anniversary of his death.
Tonight’s show, which starts at 6pm, will be hosted by Mzee wa Kiti of Baraka FM alongside MC Zigo. Entrance is Sh1,000 (regular) and Sh2,000 (VIP). There will be plenty of African dishes and drinks available. The event has been put together courtesy of Baraka FM alongside the management of Wild Waters.
Meanwhile, popular rhumba musician Ricky Mulolo and his Idologia International Band perform every Wednesday at the Toscana Restaurant and Lounge (near Pirate Beach) in Mombasa. The show starts at 6pm.
Elsewhere in Nairobi, the Rosedale Gardens at Kilimani will today host the Back and Forth Garden Edition 80s and 90s Brunch Party. Revellers will be entertained by DJs ME Supafly, D-Lite and Maurice. The event starts at 10 am and ends at 10pm.
Also in Nairobi, the Kenya Museum Society will today host the Christmas Market at the Nairobi National Museum. It will feature a second-hand book sale, a German community choir, a cocktail bar, and children’s art activities, among others.
In Kisumu, the Manyatta Homecoming show to be held at the Black Pearl in Kisumu is on the cards. Those expected to perform include Bensoul, Vijana Barubaru, MC Hype Kush and DJ Jr. The show starts at 4pm. Entrance is Sh1,000.
In Nairobi, dancer and singer Kanda Junior performs every Wednesday and Saturday at Club City Space along Moi Avenue (opp Galitos). Every Friday, he performs at the Club Country- Muthiga Inn on the Nairobi- Nakuru highway.
During live shows, he is backed by his queen dancers' music alongside disco music by DJ Gib-the Smasher. Besides dance shows Kanda Junior has also done songs like “Sweet Love” and Amapiano. Speaking to Saturday Nation earlier this week’, Kanda said he was looking forward to increasing the shows, especially during the festive season.
Sean Paul
Meanwhile, lined up on Sunday at the KICC in Nairobi will be Sean Paul show.
The show will feature a special performance by Jamaican dancehall star Sean Paul. Others expected to perform include Redsan, Motif Di Don, The Arbantone Crew, Sir Effexy, Grauchi, ZJ Hen, CNG, Dream, Mishi, G-money, DNG and BV Accurate. The show starts at 2pm.
The Kid’s Book Club – December edition will be held next Saturday at the Waterfront Mall in Karen. The event is intended to encourage a reading culture among children. The event will run from 10am to 4pm.
