‘Kenya’s richest musician’ Akothee clears air on wealth

The sensational Kenyan musician, Esther Akothee has denied rumours that she got her wealth from an old rich man and that she is a member of a cult.

Through her Facebook page, the Mombasa –based musician said she has not made her wealth from a “sponsor”- a Kenyan coinage denoting a sugar daddy, and clarified that she was not a member of illuminati.

She termed all the allegations as lies and denied claims that she is a ‘pimp’- indulging in business of selling young girls to old rich white men.

She posted: “They say Akothee is a member of Illuminati, Akothee sells young women to old wazungu abroad. Those are pure lies. Yes, I do love money, but I do not have a ‘sponsor’. I pay my bills... I’ll be glad to help the haters grow.”

The Kisumu born musician is regarded as one of the wealthiest female artistes in Kenya.

Akothee admits that she lives large, not from her music, but from her business ventures.

Since she burst into music limelight a few years ago, and has done music collaborations with Tanzania’s  popular musicians Diamond Platinumz and Mr Flavour.
