Well the trading bloc secretariat could have opened the opportunity for you. The secretariat has advertised vacancies in one of its segments dubbed Lake Victoria Basin Commission.

EAC is looking for an information technology officer whose mandate would be to facilitate maintenance and management of information and communication technology systems at the commission.

The individual must have a bachelor’s degree in technology systems, computer science, systems engineering, electrical or electronic engineering or equivalent. The applicants must also have a post-graduate diploma in ICT plus a certification in any related field besides a minimum of five years of relevant working experience.

Procurement officer

The community is also scouting for a senior procurement officer whose responsibility would be ensuring that there is a continuous, cost effective and efficient purchase of goods and services at the commission.

The above job opportunities would be run on a five-year contract that is renewable once.

Other vacancies advertised for include a programme officer for integrated population, health and environment programme. The terms of employment would be a one-year contract that is renewable depending on the availability of funds and proven performance.

There is also vacancy for a consultant who will manage the purchase of services, goods and works for the Lake Victoria Environmental Management Project Phase II by ensuring that procurement is done in line with the project management manual rules and regulations.

The successful candidate would get a five-month contract.

Meanwhile, Save the Children, a welfare organisation is seeking to hire fresh blood to firm its services in various departments.

Health programme

The organisation is seeking to hire an area manager in Bungoma to provide leadership on development of programmes in its area of operation.

Save the Children is implementing a maternal and newborn health programme that is expected to significantly contribute to achievement of Kenya’s millennium development goals’ four and five targets.

The organisation also has a vacant post for a finance officer. The candidate is expected to support the area manager in delivering the finance teams’ objectives in a timely and accurate manner.

Other jobs advertised for by the NGO include a logistics officer, a driver and a cook-cum-cleaner.
