Senate Majority Leader Kithure Kindiki has told members of the Jubilee coalition holding political offices to show loyalty to the party’s leadership or face disciplinary action.

The Tharaka-Nithi senator said it was embarrassing that some Jubilee members could ridicule the President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto in the by-election campaigns for Kericho and Malindi seats yet they are leaders of parties affiliated to the ruling coalition.

He warned that such wayward politicians will not be tolerated in the coalition and its leadership will soon crack the whip on such rebels.

“There is no way that someone can openly defy the Head of State and his deputy on whose [party] ticket they were elected and still continue to enjoy the privileges of our political support,” he said.

Prof Kindiki spoke at Gatunga Secondary School during a funds drive to raise money to buy equipment for the newly-opened Chuka University’s Gatunga Campus on Saturday.

OPPOSITION MOLES

He said it was within anyone’s democratic rights to choose which party to associate with politically but insisted that Jubilee would not entertain “opposition moles” to thrive in their midst.

He asked the rebels to make up their mind whether they wanted to remain in Jubilee or join the opposition, Cord.

“It is either you are for us, or for the enemy,” he said.

He noted that Jubilee will not entertain anyone acting or even showing signs of being against President Kenyatta and Mr Ruto.

Governors, he noted, were the most rebellious of elected leaders.

Prof Kindiki said the pressure Jubilee has been facing in by-elections was from their members who had decided to betray the party.

“We are suffering blows from our own members in Kericho and Malindi but we are optimistic we will win the two positions,” said Prof Kindiki.

He warned that anyone mentioning any other party [apart from Jubilee] in Mount Kenya East region would not survive the pressure of 2017 campaigns.

He said those against the formation of the Jubilee Party in its strongholds should prepare to lose terribly.
