A Meru National Park official has called on the national government to rehabilitate the road leading to the reserve.

The 30 kilometre stretch road from Farm in Igembe Central is pathetic.

“The road which has so many potholes needs urgent attention. It has kept so many visitors away,” Kenya Wildlife Service senior warden Tuqa Jirmo said during a tour of the park.

He added that visitors have expressed their displeasure with the deplorable condition of the road.

Dr Jirmo further explained that the park has huge potential of generating more revenue for the government since it has the Big Five animals and about 450 species of birds.
