Thugs broke into a dormitory in a girls’ school in Nyeri and stole sanitary towels and money on Wednesday.

The unknown people sneaked into a dormitory at Mahiga Girls’ Secondary School in Othaya where they made away with sanitary towels and pocket money which had been locked in the students’ boxes.

The thugs are believed to have sneaked into one of the dormitories through an open window and broken the locks of 30 boxes and made away with the loot.

The thieves are said to have also stolen other personal utilities like toilet paper and soap which they are believed to have been looking to sell.

Students were in class when the bizarre theft occurred and they only noticed when they went for lunch break. They said that they had left their property intact when they went to class only to find their boxes broken.

QUESTIONED STUDENTS

Police officers on Thursday visited the school where they questioned students and members of staff.

Four workers who were on duty during the robbery were also taken into police holding for questioning on the matter.

Othaya deputy OCPD, Jefferson Ali said that the matter is under investigation and that they were still recording statements from the school.

“The four are being questioned but we will continue investigating,” said Mr Ali.

Efforts to get a comment from the administration bore no fruit as the officials said they were having daylong meetings.
