Police in Nyandarua on Saturday morning seized bhang valued at more than Sh6 million in a car at a private home.

The Probox car was parked inside Ms Wanjiku Gitau’s home. Ms Gitau, from Gikindu village in Ol Kalou Constituency, said that the driver of the car had abandoned it in her home since Friday morning.

“He parked the car at around 7:30am Friday, claiming it had developed a mechanical problem. I got suspicious and alerted my neighbour who called the area chief,” said Ms Gitau.

The chief advised us against reporting to the police since there was nothing suspicious about the vehicle.

When the driver failed to return by evening, Ms Gitau said she called neighbours who decided to open the car’s boot only to find rolls of bhang.

“We called the police who towed the car to Ol Kalou Police Station,” said Ms Gitau.

Nyandarua Central Sub County Police Commander Dahir Mohamed said investigations have started. He said that the consignment was on transit from Nakuru Town to Mombasa.
