Drama ensued on Saturday when a murder suspect turned up at the scene of the incident barely hours after the alleged killing.

According to investigators, the suspect was being ferried to his home located at Karima area, Maai Mahiu by a boda boda operator but failed to pay after arriving at his destination.

“An altercation ensued, which later turned into a fist fight between the two. However, the boda boda operator was overpowered,” said an officer. The suspect, the officer added, hit the rider several times on the head using a stone, killing him instantly.

He then took off with the motorcycle and hid it near his compound, only to resurface at the scene, “mourning the deceased”.

Blood splatter

Hawk-eyed villagers, the investigator revealed, noticed blood splatter on his clothing and questioned the suspect, prompting him to run away.

“He managed to hide in a nearby thicket but police and the public finally caught up with him almost half an hour later,” said the officer.

Naivasha sub-county police commander Samuel Waweru confirmed the arrest of the suspect, adding that he will be arraigned in court after police complete their investigations.

“He is the prime suspect in the killing incident but police are continuing with their investigations to establish the motive,” he said.

The suspect is currently being held at the Naivasha Police Station.
