City residents decry Industrial Area trash

  • The NMS is mandated to collect garbage in the metropolitan area after the environment department was transferred from Governor Mike Sonko's government.

Residents of Nairobi have decried the illegal dumping of garbage in sections of the roads in Industrial Area.

Motorists plying the routes and factory workers in the nearby factories are complaining of the foul smell.

"A heap of garbage has been laying uncollected along Lusaka road a few metres from the City Stadium flyover while another heap is piling at Dakar/Entreprise road junction,” said one matatu driver who plies the route.

The NMS is mandated to collect garbage in the metropolitan area after the environment department was transferred from Governor Mike Sonko's government following of the signing of the Deed of Transfer of functions from the the Nairobi County Government to the National Government in February.
