Two assistant chiefs and a police officer are in trouble after a 16-year-old girl was defiled in Kangema, Murang’a.

Kangema deputy county commissioner Agnes Kaloki said one of the assistant chiefs is in police custody and that detectives are looking for the other two suspects.

Residents of Mwisho wa Raha were Tuesday night baying for the blood of the suspects who allegedly committed the offence inside the Aberdare Forest.

Locals became suspicious when they saw the Form Three girl in the company of the policeman and the two assistant chiefs going into the forest.

The girl said that she was ordered by the policeman to meet him near the forest.

The officer is said to have convinced the girl that she had no reason to worry because he was in the company of assistant chiefs who were well known to the girl.

The girl said the policeman made a ‘bed’ out of leaves and force himself on her.

On learning about the incident, villagers attacked the trio and two managed to escape.

Police officers who came to rescue their colleague were also attacked by the angry mob.

On Wednesday morning, villagers took to the streets to protest against the incident.

The rebuked government officials involved in luring of young school girls and sexually assaulting them.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha, who toured Murang’a County Wednesday, condemned the incident and promised to make sure that the perpetrators face justice.
