Detectives in Kisii are seeking to unravel the death of two lovers, whose bodies were discovered in a rental apartment on Friday in the Nyamataro area of Kisii town.

One of the bodies discovered in the house is that of Mr Vincent Nyambunde, a medical intern at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH).

Mr Nyambunde's body was found in bed with that of another woman who had reportedly returned to the country from the USA a few days earlier.

The woman is reported touted to have fallen out with her husband, leading to their separation.

The two lovers were holding two of their hands together when their bodies were discovered. When reached for comment, Kisii County Police Commander Charles Kases said he had travelled out of the county.

Kitutu Central Sub-county Police Commander Kazungu Charo promised to give more information about the incident but did not do so by the time of going to press.

"Let me ask those I left behind because I am not in the office, then I will be able to let you know," Mr Kazungu said.

Upon learning of his death, Nyambunde's friends, especially high school and college mates, thronged various social media platforms to pour their tributes.

"Dr Vincent Bosire Nyambunde, my brilliant classmate at Nyambaria School, was an inspiration to us all, consistently leading our class from Form One to Four.

"As a medical intern at KTRH, he embodied excellence and selflessness. His untimely death has shattered our hearts, taking from us a soul destined for greatness. Rest in peace, Vincent, your legacy will forever live on," Elizaphan KE said on Facebook.

Another friend who goes by the name Felix Don said, "I am deeply shocked and heartbroken to hear about the passing of Vincent Bosire Nyambunde.

"We shared so many memories during our time together at Nyambaria School, and I will always cherish those moments.

"Vincent was incredibly intelligent, always striving for excellence and inspiring those around him. His legacy will forever be cherished,"

Their bodies were moved to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
