Kirinyaga Jubilee officials have told off Governor Anne Waiguru for calling for the sacking of Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho.

Led by the local Jubilee chairman, Mureithi Kang'ara, the officials accused the governor of meddling in Dr Kibicho’s job.

Speaking at Sagana town on Sunday, the officials said they have confidence in Dr Kibicho and told Ms Waiguru to leave the Interior PS alone.

"Dr Kibicho was appointed as PS on merit and the governor has no moral authority to tell the President to relieve him of his official duties," said Mr Kang'ara.

Accompanied by elders and Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organisation leaders, the officials vowed to defend Dr Kibicho.

They asked the governor to address the problems facing Kirinyaga residents instead of attacking Dr Kibicho.

Speaking on Thursday at Runyenjes in Embu County during a tour of the region by Deputy President William Ruto, the governor asked President Kenyatta to sack Dr Kibicho.

She accused Dr Kibicho of engaging in politics.

"My brother Kibicho from Kirinyaga has abandoned his official duty and he is playing politics. When we complain, he tells us to ‘swallow razor blades or commit suicide’. I ask the President to sack Dr Kibicho and replace him with another competent person. In Kirinyaga, we have highly qualified people who can take over Dr Kibicho's job," she said.

She dismissed Dr Kibicho as an arrogant PS who should quit.

"Kibicho must go," she told hundreds of Embu residents who attended Dr Ruto’s rally.
