Kirinyaga court station closed over Covid-19

Two courts in Kirinyaga County were shut on Thursday after a prosecutor tested positive for Covid-19.
The premises at the Wang’uru Law Courts will remain closed until August 26, Judiciary officials announced.
" I regret to inform you that one of our prosecutors has tested positive for Covid-19. In line with the Ministry of Health guidelines, the staff in court one and two should proceed on self-isolation.
“All inconveniences caused are highly regretted," Principal Magistrate, G M Mutiso said in a notice.

County struggling
At total of 35 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Kirinyaga which is still struggling to establish 300 isolation beds for patients.
Recently, the deputy governor Peter Ndambiri admitted that the county is ill-equipped and is not fully prepared to handle Covid-19 patients.
He said the county is in a financial crisis because of the budget standoff between Governor Anne Waiguru and ward representatives.
