Interior PS Karanja Kibicho has hit out at Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru for asking President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack him over politics.

Speaking at Wang'uru Stadium in Mwea Constituency during the issuance of driving licences to boda boda riders, Dr Kibicho told Ms Waiguru to leave him alone.

"Ms Waiguru is not my supervisor and she should stop meddling in my work," he said.

The PS said the governor had no moral authority to tell the Head of State to fire him.

"It is the President who appointed me as a PS and he has not complained on how I go about my official duties. Kenyans who I serve are also happy with my work," he said.

He accused Ms Waiguru of training guns on him after failing to deliver quality services to Kirinyaga residents. Dr Kibicho told Ms Waiguru to take responsibility instead of passing the buck.

"She should not blame me for her failures. Let her explain to the people what she has done for them instead of hurling insults at me," he said.

Accompanied by Kirinyaga Woman Rep Wangui Ngirici and her husband Andrew Ngirici, the PS said he was not scared of the governor and vowed to continue doing his work without fear.

Dr Kibicho stressed that the governor was turning against him to get sympathy after realising that she was not popular in the area.

Mrs Ngirici and her husband told off Waiguru for attacking the PS. They said it was irresponsible for anyone to call for sacking of the PS.

Dr Kibicho said he was a stakeholder in politics and he would continue carrying out civic education so that Kenyans can decide what political direction they take in 2022 polls.
