Former Funyula MP Paul Nyongesa Otuoma has won the Busia gubernatorial race after garnering 164,478 votes against Nambale MP John Sakwa Bunyasi who got 92,144 votes.

Dr Otuoma, who contested the race on an ODM ticket, had in 2017 lost the governor race to outgoing county boss Sospeter Ojaamong, who himself conceded defeat in the Teso South MP race yesterday. 

Third was Daniel Mogoria with 14,396 votes followed by outgoing deputy governor Moses Mulomi with 2,546 votes. Michael Oloo came last with 1,675 votes.

Busia county returning officer Lazurus Chebii also declared Ms Catherine Omanyo (ODM) the Women Representative elect after she got 129,710 votes, ahead of Ms Susan Mang'eni (UDA) who got 48,197 votes.

He also declared that activist Okiya Omtatah (NRA) had won the Senator seat after garnering 171,681 votes ahead of his main opponent, Mr Hillary Itella (ODM) who got 59,276 votes.
