As the number of cars on our roads increases by the day, the demand for the speedy delivery of insurance cover is also gathering momentum.

From the port of Mombasa which is the entry of new and second cars to thousands of showrooms across the country, many investors are seeking for a one-stop-shop where they will get motor insurance cover and drive away without any worries.

In the past, car buyers were referred to insurance companies to insure their vehicles, a system many of the buyers found to be tedious, cumbersome and time wasting.

Most dealers and agents were only interested in selling their cars and making their profits and let the buyers sort themselves on matters insurance.

The matter has been complicated further by the Covid-19 pandemic which has limited social interactions in many insurance offices which have reduced their workforce.

However, this is now a thing of the past as it is now easy to buy motor insurance online without visiting an underwriter's office.

According to mTek chief executive officer Bente Krogmann, to hasten up purchasing instant car insurance online, car owners must provide crucial information such as driver's license number, a copy of the national Identification number, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Personal Identification Number (PIN), a copy of the logbook, make, model and the year the vehicle was manufactured.

"mTek App is your smartest path to quick motor insurance quote. You can download it via Google's Play Store and register by filling in relevant details and answering questions about yourself and the car you want to insure and get an instant quote," said Ms Krogmann.

The App gives vehicle owners options to compare insurance with various underwriters, policies that are offered, discounts available, payment options (mTek offers daily, weekly and monthly payments for policies from selected insurers.

Other options the motor owners will be seeking to know is the amount that will be deducted, liability limits, customised features, and whether they will want to opt for comprehensive, third party, the third party for fire and theft and a payment option to buy the insurance instantly.

"Once you have picked a cover and payment option, with mTek the payment will be sent directly to the underwriter and your policy will be activated instantly. After that you can download your proof of insurance card and print it out," said Ms Krogmann.
