The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank's private sector lending arm, plans to issue a shilling-denominated bond on the Kenya bourse, an official said on Tuesday.

"IFC is in discussions with Kenyan authorities on the possibility of issuing a bond denominated in Kenyan shillings," said Houtan Bassiri, a Nairobi-based IFC communications officer.

"The issue is subject to receiving necessary approvals from Kenya and satisfactory compliance with IFC processes."

He could not give details on how much the bond would be seeking to raise, nor when it would be coming to market.
