France fetes businessman Kirubi

Businessman Chris Kirubi will on Friday be feted with France's Legion of Honor award.

The award is in recognition of his life time contribution towards youths’ empowerment and development as well as his commitment to economic and cultural rapprochement between Kenya and France.

Mr Kirubi will receive the Honour from Remi Maréchaux, Ambassador of France to Kenya at the Residence of France.

In a statement sent to the newsroom, the embassy noted that Kirubi has through his many businesses provided employment and transformed lives.

"Dr Kirubi has collaborated with the government on many initiatives starting with HIV& AIDS, to Vision 2030. Through his various enterprises, including International House, Tiger Haco Industries, Capital FM among others, he employs close to 1,000 people," said the statement.

The businessman is also involved in the development of culture as he is also a board member of the Alliance Française of Nairobi.

The embassy of France also commended his passion for young people.

"He specifically has a big heart for young people and believes that they must be provided with real and inspirational examples," read the statement.

The Legion of Honour, in full, the National Order of the Legion of Honour (in French, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur) is a French Order established by Napoléon Bonaparte in May 1802.

It was founded to recognize distinguished accomplishments in one’s field of service as well as contributions to the growth of members of the society at large.
