LG Electronics East Africa is set to introduce new products in the latter half of the year, says the Managing Director, Mr Dong Won Lee.

Speaking on the side-lines of a partner appreciation ceremony hosted at Movenpick Hotel in Nairobi on March 15, 2024, he asserted that LG was determined to bring in the products that customers want. “In the second half of this year, we’ll bring in more products,” Mr Lee said and added: “Whatever our customers want, we’ll introduce.”

He explained that a growing demand for the firm’s products was driving investments in the distribution network in the region. “The Business-to-Business (B2B) market is growing, especially in East Africa,” he said, adding: We want to boost the B2B distribution infrastructure.”

Mr Lee revealed that LG was keen to strengthen its partnerships with distribution partner Opalnet Engineering, and the dealers who deliver products and services to the last mile across Kenya.

He noted that the appreciation ceremony was critical in enhancing and sharing communication with all LG partners in the market. “We are celebrating our partners – dealers and contractors – because of the role they play in our success journey,” he said. “Our business is growing, and it is thanks to their support. We are witnessing the power of partnerships, which is quite strong,” he added.

Mr Lee said cultivating stronger ties would pave the way for future growth.

Opalnet Engineering, the official distributor of LG Electronics air conditioning products in Kenya, will continue to forge partnerships with dealers across the country. “We hope to double the number of dealers within the next two years for expanded last mile delivery,” said the firm’s CEO, Mr Brian Kitui. The goal, he added, was for LG Electronics products to claim more market share in Kenya.

Opalnet Engineering, which has been in operation over the last 10 years, distributes LG products through the dealers. “We have grown together with our dealers, and now, LG Electronics HVAC products account for about 75 percent of the air conditioning market in Kenya. We are targeting to improve the market share in the next two years,” said Kitui.

LG Electronics East Africa’s commercial air conditioning sales manager, Mr Erick Bett, said the event offered an opportunity for the company to showcase its products to dealers. “It was also an opportunity to meet and greet our partners and thank them for their support to LG Electronics East Africa,” he added.

LG, he explained, was at the forefront of delivering cutting-edge technology in air conditioning solutions. “With the right products and the right support that we give our partners, we shall be able to achieve our vision of LG Number 1,” Mr Bett added.

Throughout the dinner and award ceremony, LG displayed its advanced technology on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). The modern air conditioning products were displayed at the back of the hall where the event was taking place, with guests passing there to view them and have their questions answered.

LG Electronics East Africa Air Conditioning Director, Mr Yeonguk (Tony) Yun, said: “We want to encourage our customers to get to know more about our products and solutions.” He listed some of the products as VRF (Multi V), single split and multi-split types of air conditioners.
